While it is generally assumed that good diabetes knowledge in the individual with the condition leads to better clinical outcomes (including glycaemic control) and diabetes-related quality of life (QoL), studies exploring the relationship between knowledge, glycaemic control and QoL are lacking. This article describes a pilot study conducted to examine this relationship in people with type 2 diabetes managed in primary care. Findings suggest that the relationship between knowledge and diabetes control is complex.
