International audienceDrawing on various disciplinary perspectives, this article critically explores the transpositionof the concept of resilience into urban planning, and the debates surrounding it. In particular, it examineshow the links between urban resilience, sustainability and inclusive development are being constructed inthe literature, and the implications in terms of governance. The article focuses on the example of theJohannesburg Growth and Development Strategy 2040, which uses the concept of resilience as an analyticalframework and as a basis for planning a more inclusive development pathway.
