International audienceMobile hosts connected to the internet via a wireless interface are likely to change their point of access frequently; A mechanism is required to ensure that packets addressed to moving hosts are successfully delivered. During handover, packet loss may occur due to delayed propagation of new location information up to the Home Network. These losses should be minimized in order to avoid the degradation of service quality. Mobility management can be divided into two parts: micro and macro-mobility. Macro-mobility handles inter- domain handovers, while micro-mobility is responsible for intradomain handovers.
