Miroslav Melena and action scenography

This diploma thesis focuses on the current of Czechoslovak action scenography, which has been fully developing since the 1970s. The paper deals with the predecessors and followers of this current, subsequently focusing on one of the main representatives of action scenography, the artist Miroslav Melena (1937-2008). Through selected significant works made by Melena for the theatre, especially for Studio Ypsilon, the paper tries to present the principles of his scenographer work. Attention is paid to the reconstruction and subsequent analysis of the artistic component of selected productions with an emphasis on a multifaceted scenography element. The aim of this work is to map Melena's architectural and scenography work in the contexts of action scenography
