This thesis includes a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with dying and death, end of life communication, end of life needs, accompaniment and care of the deceased. Palliative care, palliative sedation, advance healthcare directive and advance care planning are described. In the practical section, the results of a research project on public awareness of end-of-life experiences are described. The research was conducted online in the form of an anonymous questionnaire that was distributed to the public via social media. There was 1 main objective and 4 sub-objectives. All objectives were met. Based on the results and outcomes, I made possible recommendations for practice in order to improve the perception of death and this improve the perspective on advance healthcare directive. This..
