Diploma thesis points out the phenomenon of abandoned Slovak spa buildings, whose prevailing characteristic is nowadays dilapidation and decay. Project focuses on the complex of Turzovské kúpele near the town of Gelnica. In particular, it deals with the building of the Pionier Spa House (1889), which is the best preserved building of the whole complex, and the building of the Praha Spa House (1889), which is, on the contrary, a ruin. The design reflects the decay of the buildings in different phases as a legitimate testimony to the social situation, history and interpretation of what the spa meant and stands for nowadays.
