Geopolitical Necessity? Theoretical Analysis of U.S. Intervention in Iraq 2003

As the bachelor's thesis topic it was chosen the theoretical analysis of U.S. intervention in Iraq in 2003. The primary objective of this study is the interpretation and analysis of factors leading to the initiation of Iraqi Freedom Operation through the theory of offensive realism and neoconservatism. This work tries to answer three basic questions: whether it is possible to explain the invasion of Iraq according to the theory of offensive realism; to what measure was U.S. foreign policy influenced by neoconservatism and if American behavior was rational or irrational from the perspective of power politics. The work is divided into three main parts. The first one deals with the issue of preference theories of international relations to geopolitical analysis in the case study. The second chapter contains the theoretical framework of this thesis, mainly the analysis of offensive realism theory and other aid theories leading to the processing of the third chapter, dealing with the case of military operations in Iraq.
