The Borges - Eco Labyrinth

The task of the thesis is to define notion of the labyrinth according to Umberto Eco (mostly in his Notes on the Name of the rose) and J. L. Borges in his short stories. The idea of the labyrinth as the metaphore for the textual universum will be brought up within the wider context in the following chapters. Concept of "the labyrinth" and "the Library" is mainly connected with deconstructive philosophical line and the second part is about their philosophical basis clarification. This section explains the possibilities of reader's moves in the maze: his strategy (Lyotard), way of the movement (Derrida) and potential restrictions (Eco). Another important part of the thesis is the topic reflexion in media - specifically in the film. Interpretation of the selected motion pictures will be aimed at those elements, which are important for the subject of the writing (labyrinth, book, intertextuality…)
