The thesis discusses in turn: Czech sign language as natural language, the structure and function of sign languages, processes of interpreting drama performance into sign language, differences between image signs and language signs and aspects of their relation in general terms. The thesis further presents a description of the process of relating simultaneous constructions of language signs and language-image signs in the particular case of sign language interpreting of the drama performance Jonathan Livingston Racek. Finally, the conclusions of the analysis are presented in a form suitable to serve as a guidance for sign language interpreters preparing for experimental drama performance interpreting
