The diploma thesis focuses on aspects that affect the process of adopting a child in foster care from the perspective of foster parents experience. The work is divided into two parts. In the first part, we present theoretical background of the topic and define basic terms. We study factors affecting foster care and describe the process of formation and progress of foster care. The aim of the second - practical - part is to use qualitative research to analyze the process of adopting a child in foster care. In addition to presenting result of our research, we are also try to enrich current theories on the matter. We suggest ways how to use the acquired knowledge in practice and give impetus for further research in the field of foster care
