Multicultural theory. The relationship between ethics and the concept of authenticity

This bachelor's thesis deals with the theories of Charles Taylor, his social and political theory and its moral foundation. The thesis focuses on the questions of multiculturalism and the influence of ethics of authenticity upon them. It is divided into three essential parts. First part is devoted to the ethics of authenticity, the defects of contemporary society and the formation of modern identity. The next provides a closer look into the position of the author in the multicultural discussion, and the last part analyses the politics of recognition with its two parts, politics of universalism and politics of difference. The conclusion answers the question how the ethics of authenticity influences Taylor's view of multi-culturalism
