This study has proved, based on 8 case studies of patients suffering from chronic pain, that hypnosis based on cricksonian techniques is a mcthod which can lead in some cased to a significant improvement in patienťs condition. This improvement can be dueto reduction of perceived pain as such or in decrease of suffering or fear and anxiety related to pain. This study indicatcs that if the pain has a concrete physiological source, it is impossible to completely remove it, nevertheless it is possible to influence the suffering or fear it brings. There also secms to be a specific personality setting that can lead to a failure in the use of hypnotherapy
