Media education in CR: to implementation of the new subject into educational system

PhDr. Jan Jirák, Ph.D. Abstract The thesis tries to contribute to understanding of the process of introducing a new topic: media education into the Czech educational system (into formal school education). The first part defines the content of media literacy and its levels and describes the main approaches to media education. Then it tries to outline the transformation process of the educational system in the country. The second part provides an overview of the introduction of media education in its systematization processes, institutionalization and implementation. The interest is focused on the description of the implementation process in the 90s of the last century and in the beginning of this century. The final part is dedicated to two views on the implementation of media education
