Personal Assistance in the Life of a Person with a Mental Disability

The aim of this work is to present personal assistance as an alternative which should be included in the care of individuals with mental disabilities. This service becomes a bridge which gives a person who is mentally disabled the ability to codetermine according to their individual capacity and actively fulfill their life in a natural setting. A portion of the text deals with the evaluation of a questionnaire survey created for personal assistants who assist people with mental disabilities who are aged 16 and older. The aim of the survey was to analyze basic information about the profile of a personal assistant including their education, motivation as well as their perception of the role of a personal assistant
