The present thesis, "Masculine and Feminine View of the Colonial War (António Lobo Antunes and Lídia Jorge)" concerns the peculiarity of the masculine and feminine view of the colonial war in Portuguese colonies in Africa. This thesis focuses on two world-wide known novels: Os cus de Judas by António Lobo Antunes and A costa dos murmúrios by Lídia Jorge. The aim is to reveal that the standpoint was influenced by different social status that women and men held in Salazarian Portugal and in the colonial war itself. The introductory section is devoted to a brief summary of the Portuguese history which had a major impact on the contemporary national identity.
