The employment of prisoners in the Czech Republic

This rigorous work deals with employment of prisoners in the Czech Republic. It provides a brief explanation of the history of employment of the prison population, quoting current legislation, making particular reference to the relationship of the internal regulations of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic to labour law legislation. It introduces the differences in integrating the accused and convicted persons into working activities. The work is furthermore focused on determination of fundamental differences between the employment of an imprisoned person and a regular employee by the Labour Code. An integral part of the thesis is a description of the forms of employment, the conditions determining the work remuneration and the working time. At the same time, there is a mention of the issue of liability for damage, either from the side of the prisoner or his employer. In conclusion, the specific working conditions and opportunities of Czech and foreign prisons are presented. The aim of this work is to identify factors affecting the employment rate, to specify the relation of labour legislation to employment of the prison population.
