Press in Klatovy district in years 1945-1955

1 This thesis presents the emergence and development of the regional periodic press in the Klatovy district after the Second World War and in the first half of the fifties. It is focused on the regional newspapers in the municipalities of Klatovy, Sušice, Horažďovice and Nýrsko. It gives an account of how the involvement of cultural, historical and demografic conditions in the Klatovy district affected the emergence of the postwar regional periodic press, and in particular, how the history of local press and regional printing houses had shaped it. Therefore it also deals with the history of printing houses in the Klatovy region, and the condiitions of their confiscation, putting out of operation, and nationalization
