The Bachelor Thesis deals with the image of a city in the literature. Specifically, it analyses the conception of Saint Petersburg in a narrative poem The Bronze Horseman written by Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin and a novel Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky. The thesis is divided into two parts - the theoretical and practical ones. The theoretical section focuses on the topic of urbanism in the literature in general. It concerns with the main key motifs, space-time continuum and general character types. Then the brief history of Saint Petersburg with the special concentration on the 19th century is mentioned.
