Petr Pleva On-line communities Abstract The bachelor's thesis "On-line communities" deals with the topic of online communities and software that they use. The aim of this work is to reveal regularities in the development of these communities and find the influence of software on their lives. First, I deal with the term "online community" and its definition over the years. Based on the chosen literature the work identifies key elements of life of online communities. I highlight the purpose of emerging communities and the importance of technical platforms they use. The next part describes members of online communities, particularly the membership life cycle and the significance of identity. The work describes the types and value of special events for the life of community and also describes the most common types of software. The practical part of this thesis evaluates the results of observations in several online communities and analyzes them based on selected key factors. I find similarities in their develomplemt and based on them I determine three phases of their life path. I also find and describe the influence of software on the important areas of these communities such as the membership life cycle or course and nature of events
