Piano duets are two kinds: those for two players at one instrument, and those in which each of the two pianists has an instrument to himself. This thesis is divides into four chapters. The first one contains historical overview of the piano duets development. The second chapter provides examples of various national or international competitions and the most famous czech and foreign professional piano duets. Next chapter deals with specific technical issues of piano duets, for example selection o f piano partner or selection of repertoire.
