Francis Ferdinand d'Este and Konopiště

The Bachelor thesis 'Francis Ferdinand d'Este and Konopiště' deals with the transformation of Konopiste Castle in Central Bohemia into a modern residence of the future emperor of Austria-Hungary. The thesis briefly describes the life of the Archduke from the Habsburg-Lorraine's dynasty and also the history of his mansion including all the important changes during the years before it was bought. The greatest attention is given to the reconstruction works during Francis Ferdinand's years - not only to the reconstruction works that were already implemented, but also to those that had been planned, but which could never have been realised because of the assassination in Sarajevo and the outbreak of World War I.The faith of Francis Ferdinand's children and the destiny of the castle in the 20th century are briefly mentioned in the conclusion
