Ditransitive Constructions in Contemporary Czech

This bachelor thesis deals with constructions like naložit seno na vůz / vůz (senem) (to load the hay onto the truck / the truck (with the hay)), i.e. alternations of direct objects of a verb, in contemporary Czech. In these constructions the verb allows two situational participants to alternate in the direct object slot, which can be associated with changes of surface structure. These alternations are considered as metonymical changes, allowed by the combination of the verb meaning and the contiguity relation between its both arguments. The corpus-based analysis is used to examine the co-occurence of structural determinants (discourse accessibility, pronominality, phrase length) with respective variants and the possibility to predict the occurrence of the respective variant by employing these structural determinants.
