The thesis introduces the reception of the oeuvre of one of the leading forces behind Viennese modernism in Czech and German-speaking literary and theatre life in the Czech lands. First, there is a brief introduction of Schnitzler's poetics and the broader context of the relationships between Czech and Viennese modernism under scrutiny. After that, the thesis focuses on the beginnings of the reception of Schnitzler's work in the Czech lands and further maps the important streams of reception in Czech and in German-speaking critique and in reactions of the personae involved in cultural life of the Czech lands.
