Icehouses, such as the current glacial state and Late Paleozoic Ice Age (LPIA; ~340 to 290 million years ago), make up less than 25% of the past billion years of Earth’s history and are associated with major environmental change. Thus, exploring climate dynamics during the LPIA expands our view of the climate system and improves our confidence in future climate projections.
