This essay takes into account all the forms of altered adjectives which name a colour to express both vagueness and subjective evaluation in Italian and Russian. After considering the theoretical issue of the denomination of colour terms and of historical grammar studies of non-relational adjectives in Russia, the analysis is centred on the comparison of alterative suffixes and of the correspondent differences of meaning. Thanks to the data supplied by the parallel Russian-Italian corpus, concrete examples of the functioning of altered colour terms will be observed
