The Protogeometric and Geometric Necropolis of Ialysos (Rhodes): Burial Customs, Commerce and Society

L'articolo analizza il costume funerario di Ialysos (Rodi) dalla fine del X agli inizi del VII sec. a.C., al fine di comprendere le trasformazioni della società e dei commerci. La comunità di Ialysos è caratterizzata da una forte apertura ai rapporti commerciali con il Mediterraneo orientale e con l'Egeo, sia attraverso forme di scambio che come risultato della probabile presenza di meteci di origine levantina, che possono ad aver dato il via ad una produzione di profumi prodotta in loco.The article deals with the burial customs of Ialysos (Rhodes) from the late 10th until the early 7th century BC, in order to understand the changes of the local society and the trades. Ialysos is an "open" community, which is chacacterized by close relationships with the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean, through the exchanges and probably the presence of Levantine immigrants, which might have given way to a local production of perfumes
