The Berbers have been able to survive and preserve their linguistic and cultural identity as the result of constant negotiations. The Berbers have supported and strengthened the defence of their traditions, their language and their personality only through determined and constant resistance. They have succeeded, as the progress in Morocco and Algeria shows, in bringing about the development of Berberity-Amazighity in a socio-cultural domain and even at a political level. On the other hand, at the local and regional levels, the movement, which has a largely urban origin (among intellectuals, academics, etc.) has not been able to gain greater consent in rural areas, where unemployment, poverty, and other social problems have become endemic, as in the case of the Moroccan South East region. Today, the Berber rural population, in particular the youth, has greater awareness of its identity, but it does not always identify with an urban movement that takes decisions in their name
