Al-Aqwal al-kafiya wa-l-fusul al-shafiya is an important treatise on horses by the Yemeni king al-Malik al-Mugahid Ali b. Dawud (d. 1363).The work is structured in 6 chapters: ref. to horses in the Kuran and Prophet Muhammad's hadith; 2. main features of the horse; 3. pregnancy, reproduction, and breeding;4. diseases; 5. names of the most celebrated horses in the Jahiliyya and Islam; 6. non-Arab horses, mules, and donkeys. The paper presents a summary of the whole contents of the book, with a focus on the name of the Yemeni kings' horses
