Dante e l'apocalittica dell'Antico e del Nuovo Testamento

This work presents the synthesis of an inclusive investigation about the presence of Prophetical Books of the Old Testament and of Apocalypse in five cantos of the Comedìa: Inferno XIX, Purgatorio XXIX, XXXII and XXXIII, and Paradiso XXV. This study identifies and describes Dante´s method of combining and reutilizing Biblical models; it demonstrates how medieval and patristic comments of Scriptural Books (especially of Apocalypse and Song of Songs), along with their illuminations, have deeply influenced Dante the poet. In these cantos, however, we assist also at the most intensive employment of aemulatio of classical myths (for example, of the myth of Pyramus), in accordance with Dante´s prophetic task and with his mystical experience at the end of his voyage towards God
