CD14 is a co-receptor for bacterial lipolysaccharide (LPS) detection. It is found on myelomonocytic cells such as monocytes, macrophages, and Langerhans cells, CD14 expression in bladder cells is necessary for cytokine secretion and increased tumor growth. The goal of this study was to use immunohistochemistry (IHC) to assess CD14 expression in patients with transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder in order to see if there was a link between CD14 marker expression in bladder cancer and cystitis.
