International audienceThe present study deals with the electrochemical behavior and with the microbiological colonization of a 254SMO stainless steel (Fe-20Cr-18Ni-6Mo) immersed, either 10 days in a partially sterile natural seawater, or the same time in a non sterile natural seawater.Bacteria in seawater, and those forming the biofilm, are counted and identified during the two tests. Aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms are identified in two cases. Moreover, Ecorr was followed during the immersion. The values stay stable at about -0,10 V/SCE during immersion in sterilized seawater, whereas in non sterile seawater, Ecorr increases until +0,25 V/ECS after 10 days of immersion.
