International audienceIn 2009, INERIS performed a comparative study in France and in four countries (the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States) regarding regulation for control of ageing of industrial facilities. This paper presents the comparative principles for inspections for the following types of equipment: pressure equipment, storage tanks, other vessels or pipes not subjected to pressure regulations, safety instrumented systems, civil works. Proposals for general principles for improving inspections are presented. In January 2010, the "Modernization Plan" launched by the French Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development identified 38 measures to improve control of ageing.
