National audienceIn order to quantify the mechanical impact of natural thermal fluctuations on rockslope, a network has been installed on a large slab of the 'Rochers de Valabres'. The network monitors temperatures and thermal strain in the shallowest part of the slope, at eight measurement points. Thermal data give us information about thermal transfer and the heterogeneous strain magnitudes can be linked to mechanical boundaries conditions of each measurement point and variations of thermal boundaries conditions. Strain data are also input data to evaluate fracture propagation assumptions.
