National audienceFollowing recent accidents due to ageing of equipment, the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development launched at the end of year 2008 an action plan with the view to improving control of ageing of industrial facilities. In this frame, INERIS performed a comparative study in France and in four countries (the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States). The study focused on the following types of equipment: pressure equipment, storage tanks, other vessels or pipes not subjected to pressure regulations, safety instrumented systems, civil works. In none of the compared countries, regulation does provide an exhaustive answer to control of ageing for the whole panel of equipment. Regulations are complete...
