The nematofauna soil consists of plant parasitic nematodes (well known for the damage they cause to crops), as well as free-living nematodes which are for a large part microbivore. Because of the abundance and diversity of soil nematodes and of their biological characteristics, these organisms are good candidates to be use as bioindicators of soil conditions. The soil nematofauna was studied during 3 years in a long-term experiment with contrasting treatments (conventional tillage or notillage with or without permanent cover crops) in Madagascar (Antsirabé).
