Doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind farms faces challenge to maintain fault ride through (FRT) as they are vulnerable to the grid faults. The asymmetrical faults are also problematic like the symmetrical faults, as the asymmetrical faults introduce electromechanical stress on turbine generator systems and may cause grid code violation. To augment the asymmetrical FRT capacity and handle the asymmetrical faults, a parallel resonance fault current limiter (PRFCL) is proposed.
