La neurofibromatosis es un trastorno neurocutáneo caracterizado por tumores en el sistema nervioso y la piel. Los tipos más comunes de neurofibromatosis son los tipos 1 y 2, ambos autosómicas dominantes. La neurofibromatosis tipo 1, también conocida como enfermedad de von Recklinghausen, se presenta con neurofibromas, manchas cafés con leche, pecas y gliomas ópticos. La neurofibromatosis tipo 2 se caracteriza por schwannomas vestibulares bilaterales y meningiomas.
