Iraq is one of the countries that applied for membership and was approved for observer status in the organization in 2004. Iraq suffers from distortions in the structure of the economy as a result of wars and the destruction that has befallen it, which requires Iraq to carry out a package of economic reforms in order to address the reality of the Iraqi economy and its integration with the global economy, which requires preparation for planning that is compatible with the requirements of accession to the World Trade Organization.
