Innovation financière et financement de l’économie : quels liens théoriques ?

Financial innovation is a subject that has gained momentum in recent years, especially with the latest financial crisis. This, following the phenomenal development of financial products resulting from this financial innovation. Since this crisis, this subject has occupied a dominant status in the debates of the world economy given the financial instability it has caused and the perverse effects that have gone beyond the financial sector to reach the real sector, while stimulating a misery economic and social. The finance research literature has dealt extensively with issues of financial innovation. Nevertheless, we are witnessing a lack of a proper theoretical approach addressing the effect of financial innovation on the financing of the economy. To fill this gap, it was necessary to investigate thoroughly as much as possible to be able to find this nexus, hence the interest of our present article. To be able to grasp this relationship, we have referred to the analytical approach while resorting to theoretical contributions that relate to the functions of financial innovation. Based on the analysis of these theoretical contributions, we have observed that financial innovation has several functions, including the diversification of financial products, risk management and the minimization of the cost of financing. As it also allows the resolution of stock market imperfection problems, including information asymmetry and transaction costs. All of these functions are likely to promote the growth of sources of financing, the mobilization of savings and the improvement of stock market liquidity. Cela, suite au développement phénoménal des produits financiers issus de cette innovation financière. Depuis cette crise, l’innovation financière a occupé un statut dominant dans les débats de l’économie mondiale étant donné l’instabilité financière qu’elle a provoquée et les effets pervers qui ont dépassé le secteur financier pour atteindre le secteur réel, tout en stimulant une misère économique et sociale. De nombreux travaux théoriques, de multiples débats ont alimenté alors une littérature abondante sur l'innovation financière. Néanmoins, nous assistons à un manque d’une approche théorique proprement dite abordant l’effet de l’innovation financière sur le financement de l’économie. Pour combler ce vide, il a fallu creuser au maximum pour pouvoir trouver ce lien d’où l’intérêt du présent article. Pour pouvoir appréhender et clarifier cette relation, nous nous sommes référés à l’approche analytique tout en recourant aux contributions théoriques qui portent sur les fonctions de l’innovation financière. En s’appuyant sur l’analyse de ces contributions théoriques, nous avons pu constater que l’innovation financière a plusieurs fonctions, notamment la diversification des produits financiers, la gestion du risque et la minimisation du coût de financement, comme elle permet également la résolution des problèmes d’imperfection de marché boursier, notamment l’asymétrie d’information et les coûts de transaction. L’ensemble de ces fonctions est de nature à favoriser l’accroissement des sources de financement, la mobilisation de l’épargne et l’amélioration de la liquidité boursière.
