The effects of the rehabilitation program of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to male drug dependents in Silang, Cavite

The researchers adopted a non-experimental descriptive research design to obtain the relationship between variables. Using simple random sampling technique, the 50 participants of the study were males from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) rehabilitation center in Silang, Cavite who are undergoing rehabilitation or in the period of recovery. The tool used is an adopted questionnaire, which includes the demographic data, clients before the rehabilitation, clients during the rehabilitation and clients after the rehabilitation. To assert the relevance of the dependent and independent variables, frequency distribution, mean, t-test and f-test were utilized in the statistical treatment of data. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents are young adults and college undergraduates and single. They are susceptible to peer pressures and not relying much on their own families; 2) Shabu is readily available to the general public due to its affordability and thus, many could almost access it for free; 3) The initial response of a person being rehabilitated is indifference and resistance. However, as he realizes the gains he gets from it, he would slowly choose to be rehabilitated and hopefully go back to a normal life; 4) The NBI rehabilitation program could be a result of a long series of trial and error or a product of a continuing systems analysis regarding the problem of drug addiction in the country
