Addressing the outdated fund allocation percentage of the finance ministry of a local Christian church

This action research addressed the outdated allocation percentage of the Finance Ministry of a local Christian Church. The main issue was determined through collaborative engagement with ministry heads and leaders of the Church. The root cause analysis performed resulted in the identification of the issue from various manifestations such as recurring negative fund balances of various ministry funds, expenses exceeding allocation meant for the ministry fund, and inadequate funds to support Church activities. The collaborators worked together on the action research by revising and implementing an updated allocation percentage for ministry funds. The first cycle implemented the revised allocation of funds, which resulted in improved fund balances across ministry funds. The second cycle aimed to improve the collection system by introducing e-wallet service for TOP (tithe, offering, and pledge) donation, which complements the improvement realized in the first cycle. Needs analysis, open communication, and inclusivity of ministry heads ensured that interventions are relevant and practical to the current needs and priorities of the Church. The two cycles of action research made the collaborators learn and appreciate the importance of effective fund allocation in assisting the Church to fulfill its mission and goals to the society
