THE EFFECT OF SELF-TALK STRATEGY ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL AT TENTH GRADERS OF MAN 1 BUNGO

This research aimed to find out the significant effect and differences of Self-Talk Strategy on students’ speaking skill. This research was conducted at tenth graders of State Islamic Senior High School 1 Bungo. This research was used experimental design. This research was analyzed the data quantitatively. The data was obtained by pre-test and post-test. The population of this research is students’ at the tenth graders of State Islamic Senior High School 1 Bungo. Class X mia 1 as experimental class which are thought by using Self-Talk Strategy and class X mia 2 as control class without using Self-Talk Strategy. To analyzed the data, the researcher using paired t-test and independent t-test. The researcher was helped by two raters in scoring students’ speaking skill. After analyzing the data, the value of sample paired t-test was 0.000 ≤ 0.05, it means that Ha was accepted. While, independent sample t-test the differences was 1,719 and the significant 2-tailed ≤ 0.05. as the result, it can be concluded there are differences effect of students’ speaking skill between experimental and control class
