This article presents a brief historical contextualization of the formation of the Physical Education teacher from the different fields of activity. Therefore, the proposed objective is to map the historical context of teacher education to understand the challenges and possibilities of acting in the face of contemporary changes. The methodological procedures are characterized by a qualitative nature, focusing on the type of bibliographic and documentary research. The final considerations and analyzes demonstrated the need to promote discussions, in order to enable the (re)structuring of knowledge in line with the observed systematizations that demonstrate a certain legislative setback regarding the curricular component.
