Cultural Marketing to Strengthen Tangible and Intangible Historical Heritage of Cañar

This study aimed at developing a cultural marketing plan by analyzing tourist attractions in the canton of Cañar to strengthen the material and intangible historical heritage of its Intercultural Decentralized Autonomous Government. A descriptive, non-experimental, and cross-sectional design was used. Additionally, the inductive, deductive, synthetic, systemic, and analytical methods were used to verify the derivations of the study. Research instruments such as surveys, interviews, and observation files were used to determine the current state of the natural and cultural attractions of the canton and the behavior of the inhabitants toward them. It was found that only 73% of the inhabitants know about the adjacent cultural heritage. The archaeological site of Ingapirca is particularly important because it is considered the cultural heritage of Ecuador, however, the natural wealth is incalculable and >44% of the population has almost no knowledge and appreciation of the site. Moreover, the raymis (festivals), food, clothing, religion, music, dance, and language are cultural values that compliment tourism, for which 91% of the population expressed their willingness to promote the protection of cultural and natural attractions. It is concluded that cultural marketing will positively affect the recognition of the tangible and intangible historical heritage because it relies on the marketing mix in the provision of tourism products and uses innovative, persuasive, and experiential strategies to stimulate tourist satisfaction. Resumen La presente investigación tiene como objetivo desarrollar un plan de marketing cultural a través del análisis de atractivos turísticos para fortalecer el patrimonio histórico material e inmaterial del Gobierno Autónomo Descentralizado Intercultural del Cantón Cañar, el nivel de investigación es de tipo descriptivo con un diseño no experimental y transversal. En la búsqueda de resultados se utilizó el método inductivo, deductivo, sintético, sistémico y analítico para verificar las derivaciones del estudio; técnicas de investigación como encuestas, entrevistas y archivos de observación apoyadas en instrumentos para determinar el estado actual de los atractivos naturales y culturales del cantón y el comportamiento de las personas que se enfrentan a este fenómeno. Los principales resultados muestran que solo el 73% de los habitantes conocen del patrimonio cultural adyacente, el sitio arqueológico de Ingapirca es particularmente importante porque se denomina patrimonio cultural del Ecuador, pero la riqueza natural es incalculable y la gente casi no tiene conocimiento y valoración a más del 44%; Los Raymis (festivales o celebraciones), comida, indumentaria, religión, música, danza e idioma son valores culturales que complementan la tradición turística, por lo que el 91% de la población expresó su voluntad de promover la protección de los atractivos culturales y naturales. Se concluye en que, el marketing cultural afectará positivamente al reconocimiento del patrimonio histórico material e inmaterial porque se apoya del marketing mix en la provisión de productos turísticos y utiliza estrategias innovadoras, persuasivas y vivenciales para estimular la satisfacción del turista.
