The article deals with the search for identity in the Jewish American literature. The article describes the ways resorted to by the immigrants to get into the mainstream US society and in order to find their new identity at the same time rejecting their old selves. The article also attempts to disclose the aftermaths of these processes. All the inferences are drawn from the authentic texts by Jewish American writers
