anemonThe study area is located between the eastern part of Lake Iznik, which is the 5th largest lake of Turkey, and Mekece. Depression chain which formed by depending on North Anatolian Fault Zone is a graben system in which Iznik Depression, Karadin Trough and Pamuk Plain are sequenced eastward as a continuation of Gemlik Bay in the west. Geomorphological units in the region are studied under the headings as high mountainous, high and low plateaus, plains and flat areas. The river system established during the Pliocene period was rearranged due to the rainy-cool climatic conditions and active tectonics in the Pleistocene.
