Introduction. Lymphadenitis represents one of the most frequent causes of patients’ addressing to the department of paediatric maxillofacial surgery. In order to make a correct diagnosis there is a need for various clinical and paraclinical examinations. A detailed anamnesis should be required from the child’s parents, followed by the head and neck region examination so as to identify infectious processes of the scalp, some sources of inflammation or infection in the teeth, oral mucosa and the tongue. The palpation of lymph nodes aims to estimate their size and consistency,as enlargement in a short time may suggest a malignant process. Among paraclinical methods ultrasonography, MRI and fine needle aspiration biopsy are widely used. ...
