Evaluation Of Personal History Data For Home Economics Freshmen Students At Prairie View A&M College 1954-55

Each year more than one thousand freshman women enroll at Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical College, of whom about 75 at the time data were being collected. This enrollment figure shows a recent trend, however, for during the two earlier decades the freshman home economics enrollment reached a maximum of 180 In the class of 19ij5-ili\u3e» and the minimum of the period was more than the average for this decade, with the exception of the year 1932-33. There are many reasons for this change in the trend of the enrollment in home economics at Prairie View as have been pointed out by several Investigators, such as Harden (1) and Mitchell (2). As pointed out by Fry ( 3 ) , evaluation, as related to a home economics program, may be defined as the process which determines the extent to which the educational goals of the institution or the alms of a division of the Institution have been met or realized. She felt that a basic purpose for evaluating a program in home economics was to provide as clear a picture as possible of the relative values gained from college experiences by students individually and in groups, according to classes and majors, or other factors
