This work explores the causes and conditioning mechanisms of the peculiar performance of agriculture in Latin America, with a long-range chronological and geopolitical vision. Its content reviews the role of economic agents and regional governments over time, in their interactions, interests and points of tension. It seeks to show why the growing agri-food wealth, channeled above all to world trade, does not manage to be distributed a little better among those who with their hands and daily effort make it possible.
