This paper presents a robust algorithm for clutter modelling based on the radar equation, radar characteristics and digital elevation data. Optimization methods from adaptive signal processing theory were used to calculate the weights of an adaptive linear combiner representing the radar system for clutter modelling. Modelled clutter showed an acceptable precision demanded by applications on meteorology and hydrology for radar rainfall estimations
